Linux Administrator

About the role

The Linux Administrator will act as the first line of defense for service quality and reliability across a medium‑sized cluster of roughly 1,500 Linux servers. You will be responsible for imaging, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting servers and services to ensure smooth performance in a 24/7 support environment.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the initial responder for all service‑quality issues, including alert handling, metric analysis, and escalation.
• Troubleshoot production problems using internal tools, document symptoms, and contribute to the knowledge base.
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and propose improvements.
• Maintain and deploy open‑source services such as Memcached, Apache, Nginx, HAProxy, MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, Prometheus, Grafana, Proxmox, and Scylla.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and provide live support for production Linux systems.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of recent Linux system administration experience.
• Hands‑on experience with user, configuration, and package management.
• Proven ability to work under pressure in a 24/7 environment and handle escalations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Linux OS administration (GNU/Linux, LAMP stack).
• Scripting languages: Bash, Go, Perl, Python.
• Service management: Memcached, Apache, Nginx, HAProxy, MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, Prometheus, Grafana, Proxmox, Scylla.
• Monitoring/alerting tools: Nagios, Ganglia, Sensu, Zabbix.
• Experience with on‑call or escalation engineering.
