About the role
The Legal Officer will manage and monitor litigation matters involving the bank, ensuring effective representation in courts, tribunals and regulatory bodies. This role works closely with the Litigation Department Head to guide case strategy and protect the bank’s interests.
Key responsibilities
- Research, prepare, and file pleadings; coordinate with external counsel for submissions in trial and appellate courts.
- Represent the bank before NLRC, BSP, Court of Appeals, regular courts and quasi‑judicial bodies.
- Assist bank units, branches and external parties with legal requirements for pending or potential cases.
- Provide legal opinions, conduct investigations and enforce the bank’s rights.
- Direct external counsel on case strategy as approved by senior litigation leadership.
- Propose policies and best practices for banking documentation and litigation handling.
- Prepare case updates, reports and supervise assigned legal assistants, paralegals and liaison officers.
Required profile
- Registered Lawyer with a valid license.
- 2‑5 years of experience as a litigation lawyer.
- Banking experience preferred but not mandatory.
