Junior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

The Junior Mechanical Engineer will support the delivery of mechanical engineering work for new shipbuilding projects. You will produce calculations, drawings, requisitions, reports and trial documentation while ensuring compliance with vessel specifications, flag requirements and classification society rules.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical design calculations and detailed 2‑D AutoCAD drawings.
• Generate material requisitions, technical reports and investigation documents.
• Coordinate with design, production and external stakeholders such as classification societies, clients and suppliers.
• Verify that all deliverables meet project schedules, budgets and regulatory standards.
• Participate in design reviews, trials and problem‑solving activities.

Required profile

• B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 2 years experience in marine mechanical design for new shipbuilding.
• Good knowledge of classification society and flag rule requirements (e.g., DNV, BV, IMO High‑Speed Craft Code).
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• 2D AutoCAD.
• MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Mechanical design principles for marine vessels.
• Familiarity with 3D ship‑design software such as SHIPCON.
• Experience with Pipenet, spreadsheet modelling and CFD tools.
