Head of Department Mechanical

About the role

The Head of Department – Mechanical leads a high‑performing mechanical design function, delivering complex, large‑scale projects across mixed‑use, residential, commercial, healthcare, hospitality and giga‑scale developments. The role blends technical excellence, commercial awareness and strong leadership to drive multidisciplinary teams, client relationships and fast‑paced project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Strategically lead and expand the Mechanical department in line with business growth, establishing operational frameworks, design standards and best practices.
• Oversee concept‑to‑detailed design delivery for large projects, ensuring compliance with international codes, authority approvals and sustainability targets.
• Manage resource planning, hiring and utilization across global offices, building a multicultural engineering team.
• Coordinate with Electrical, Public Health, Infrastructure and Architecture teams for integrated design delivery.
• Act as the primary technical liaison for senior client stakeholders, leading presentations, design reviews and conflict resolution.
• Monitor project KPIs, risks and budgets, supporting commercial proposals and ensuring profitability.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in mechanical engineering design for large‑scale construction projects.
• Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams across multiple locations.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in client engagement, contract negotiations and budget control.
• Deep understanding of international mechanical codes, sustainability standards and BIM‑driven workflows.
