Head Nurse (Senior Nursing Home)

About the role

The Head Nurse leads the clinical team in a senior nursing home, ensuring high‑quality, compassionate care for residents while respecting their self‑care abilities and wishes. This role collaborates closely with physicians, multidisciplinary teams, and families to provide both physical and psychological support.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise, and supervise the clinical team to promote quality resident care.
• Coordinate clinical activities with other departments, ensuring optimal staffing, equipment, and facilities.
• Observe, evaluate, and improve nursing activities and personnel performance against standards.
• Develop and recommend policies for resident care and participate in personnel planning.
• Train newly hired clinical staff and conduct regular compliance training sessions.
• Perform comprehensive care assessments, manage complex chronic illnesses, and create structured nursing care plans.
• Provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to residents and families, especially in end‑of‑life situations.
• Ensure proper medication administration, risk‑factor prevention, and adherence to quality standards.
• Assume full responsibility for daily operations in the absence of the Clinical Care Manager.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with extensive experience in nursing home or long‑term care settings.
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience over caregivers and nursing staff.
• Strong knowledge of quality‑management requirements and clinical care standards.
• Ability to collaborate with physicians, multidisciplinary teams, and families.
• Experience in training, policy development, and performance evaluation.
