Guidance Officer – Student Wellbeing and Support

About the role

The Guidance Officer will work within Woorabinda State School to promote student wellbeing, engagement and academic success. This permanent, onsite position is ideal for a culturally responsive professional who enjoys building strong relationships with students, families and community partners.

Key responsibilities

• Provide guidance and counselling services that support student wellbeing and learning.
• Build respectful, trusting relationships with students, families, staff and community members.
• Collaborate with school leaders, teachers, wellbeing staff and external agencies.
• Support culturally responsive and trauma‑informed practices across the school.
• Contribute to inclusive practices that enable every student to participate, progress and succeed.
• Manage a professional caseload while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
• Use effective communication and problem‑solving to assist students facing barriers to learning.
