General Ledger Accountant

About the role

The General Ledger Accountant will maintain the integrity of the general ledger for a non‑life insurance company, ensuring accurate and timely recording of premiums, claims, reinsurance and operating expenses. The role works closely with claims, underwriting, reinsurance and actuarial teams to support month‑end, year‑end and regulatory reporting activities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the general ledger, record recurring, adjusting and correcting journal entries.
• Perform regular reviews and reconciliations of key GL accounts such as cash, investments, premium receivables and claim liabilities.
• Assist in preparing and submitting periodic regulatory reports required by the Insurance Commission (IC) and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
• Reconcile GL accounts related to statutory deposits, taxes and reserves, and maintain supporting documentation for audits.
• Contribute to month‑end and year‑end closing activities, ensuring all entries and adjustments are accurate.
• Ensure compliance with PFRS and other insurance‑specific accounting standards.
• Identify process‑improvement opportunities and support implementation of new accounting systems.
• Coordinate data flow with Claims, Underwriting, Reinsurance, Actuarial, Tax and Financial Reporting teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA is a plus.
• 3‑5 years of accounting experience, preferably in non‑life insurance or financial services.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle or industry‑specific solutions).
• Knowledge of Insurance Commission (IC) and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) reporting requirements.

• Proficiency in MS Office – Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience using SAP.
