Food Assistant – Part-Time

About the role

The Food Assistant works in an IKEA store food area, creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages visitors to stay longer and enjoy the food offerings. This part‑time position focuses on delivering excellent customer service while supporting sales and store operations.

Key responsibilities

• Engage customers with a friendly attitude, promoting IKEA values and encouraging repeat visits.
• Maintain knowledge of top‑selling food items, product origins, and benefits to share with customers.
• Support range changes, prepare the food area for service, and contribute to in‑store activity plans.
• Monitor local competition and provide input on range and pricing to the manager.
• Follow internal rules, policies, and daily operational routines.
• Ensure store operations align with Functional Commercial Review standards.

Required profile

• Sales‑driven and passionate about food and people.
• Experience in food management or the food industry, with willingness to learn new skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced retail environment.
• Service‑oriented, customer‑focused, and flexible to change.
• Confident in approaching and talking to people in a friendly manner.
• Initiative‑taking with strong attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
