Firmware Manager

About the role

Emerson is seeking a Firmware Manager to lead the development of firmware architecture for communication modules, energy solutions, and industrial technologies. You will provide technical leadership and program direction across new product development and lifecycle support, driving innovation and quality for global customers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead execution of firmware development projects using structured project management and continuous improvement practices.
• Define technical direction, including architecture design, design reviews, qualification planning, and platform development.
• Develop assembly and test specifications while ensuring alignment with quality and reliability standards.
• Ensure regulatory and industry compliance by partnering with design and certification teams.
• Collaborate with technology and supply partners to support product development and innovation.
• Provide regular updates to leadership on project progress, risks, and opportunities.
• Support and develop team members through coaching and resource planning.
• Investigate and resolve product quality concerns with customers and internal teams.

Required profile

• Establish common objectives and a shared mindset across teams.
• Prioritize developing others and anticipate future trends accurately.
• Minimum Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• At least 3 years of technical leadership experience in firmware or embedded systems development.

Required skills

• Embedded firmware design and development for ARM‑based microcontrollers.
• Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience with communication interfaces such as I2C, UART, SPI, USB, and CAN.
• Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, Ethernet, fieldbus).
• Familiarity with system integration testing, validation, and Agile development practices.
• Use of version control tools like Git.
