Financial Controller

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing entertainment company producing film, television and studio content, is seeking a senior Financial Controller to lead the finance and accounting function. Reporting to the CFO, you will ensure the integrity of financial reporting, support strategic decision‑making and act as a key partner to the executive team.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end and year‑end close, preparing accurate management accounts in accordance with IFRS.
• Manage external accountants, statutory filings, tax returns and coordinate audits.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and produce rolling forecasts, scenario modelling and variance analysis.
• Oversee production accounting for film, TV and studio projects, including cost tracking, budget monitoring and co‑production financing.
• Direct payroll operations, benefits administration and ensure compliance with employment tax across all jurisdictions.
• Develop and maintain internal controls, financial policies and drive continuous improvement of systems and reporting infrastructure.
• Evaluate and implement accounting software and ERP solutions, currently using Xero.
• Support fundraising, investor reporting and M&A activities.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in financial control and accounting leadership, preferably within entertainment, media or production.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, statutory compliance and production accounting.
• Proven ability to manage large, multi‑project budgets and complex financial structures.
• Excellent analytical skills with a strategic mindset.
