Financial Controller

About the role

Connext is seeking a Financial Controller to lead multiple client engagements, manage a team of senior staff accountants, and oversee end‑to‑end accounting operations. The role combines hands‑on financial reporting with strategic insight for business owners and executives.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary accounting contact for 2–5 client engagements, maintaining strong client relationships.
• Lead the preparation and review of monthly reporting packages and financial statements, analyze results and present findings to owners or executives.
• Direct and mentor Senior Staff Accountants in journal entries, account reconciliations, month‑end close, and supporting schedules.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all accounting deliverables.
• Provide coaching, feedback, and technical guidance to the accounting team.
• Lead onboarding of new clients and accounting cleanup projects.
• Implement scalable accounting processes and internal controls, ensuring compliance with GAAP and client policies.
• Identify opportunities for process automation and workflow improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive accounting experience.
• At least three (3) years managing or reviewing accounting staff and processes.
• Stable employment history with demonstrated month‑end close and financial reporting experience.
• Strong understanding of financial statement preparation and account reconciliations.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills in English.
