Finance and Compliance Controller – Project Finance

About the role

Desjardins International Development (DID) is seeking a Finance and Compliance Controller to lead the financial management of a climate‑resilience project for women agri‑entrepreneurs in Mindanao, Philippines. Reporting to the Project Director, you will ensure the integrity of financial information, compliance with donor requirements, and sound financial stewardship throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records in accordance with DID policies, donor agreements and applicable regulations.
• Produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Monitor project expenditures, ensuring proper documentation, coding and approval of all transactions.
• Consolidate and analyse financial data, identify significant variances and provide recommendations to management.
• Support the development, monitoring and revision of project budgets, forecasts and cash‑flow projections.
• Ensure compliance with donor contracts, internal policies and financial regulations.
• Establish and monitor internal control mechanisms to safeguard project assets.
• Supervise the Finance and Administration Assistant and the Project Driver, overseeing administration, logistics and asset management.

Required profile

• University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.
• Proven experience managing finances for donor‑funded or development projects.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting standards, budgeting and cash‑flow management.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with international partners and local teams.
