Director, Special Initiatives and Funds

About the role

The Asian Development Bank is seeking a senior leader to drive its private‑sector development agenda across the Asia‑Pacific region. As Director of Special Initiatives and Funds, you will shape upstream market development, advisory, and financing strategies that align with ADB’s Strategy 2030.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of bank‑wide upstream market development activities, including policy and regulatory advisory, capacity development, and knowledge management for private‑sector development (PSD) and public‑private partnerships (PPP).
• Oversee midstream activities such as institutional and corporate advisory on transaction development and preparation.
• Develop thematic policies, strategies, operational plans, and directional papers guiding PSD work across the bank.
• Identify and structure ADB financing opportunities that support PSD, ensuring consistency with strategic objectives.
• Provide strategic direction and support to regional and sector departments, enabling country directors to advance PSD initiatives.
• Represent ADB in strategic discussions with international and multilateral organizations on PPP matters.
• Foster internal communication, staff engagement, and innovation to drive future‑focused initiatives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in private‑sector development, PPP, and market development within an international development or financial institution.
• Proven ability to lead senior‑level teams, manage complex, high‑risk projects, and influence multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Strong strategic thinking and operational management skills, with a track record of delivering results aligned with long‑term development strategies.
