Director for Advancement

About the role

The Director for Advancement leads Xavier University’s development program, overseeing fundraising strategy, donor relations, and the execution of major gifts, planned giving, and capital campaigns. This senior position reports directly to the President and shapes the financial future of the campus.

Key responsibilities

• Meet prospective donors, foundations, and corporate leaders year‑round to build relationships and secure support.
• Arrange public appearances and speaking engagements for the President to raise the university’s profile.
• Develop and manage a major gifts program, including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of high‑value donors.
• Build a planned giving program focused on deferred gifts such as bequests.
• Direct the annual fund, coordinating crowdsourcing, e‑blasts, mailings, and fundraising drives.
• Document plans, programs, and outcomes each semester and submit quarterly progress reports.
• Oversee prospect research, fundraising database setup, and tracking systems.
• Collaborate with Alumni Relations to create a unified giving community and coordinate special events.
• Establish an endowment fund in partnership with the Treasurer.
• Lead Advancement Committee meetings with volunteers and manage donor recognition programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum five years of progressive experience in professional fundraising, public relations, or marketing.
• Working knowledge of tax laws affecting charitable giving.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to close gifts of PHP 100,000 or more.
