Design Engineer, Structures

About the role

WSP is seeking a Design Engineer – Structures to join its multidisciplinary team. You will work under the supervision of senior engineers, translating project briefs into safe, code‑compliant structural solutions for residential, commercial and institutional buildings.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret project briefs, raise technical queries and ensure design information is complete.
• Prepare design calculations, specifications, structural details and sketches, including stability and code compliance checks.
• Produce and review CAD drawings, coordinate with drafting teams and ensure timely delivery of mark‑ups.
• Review shop drawings, perform quality design checks and incorporate comments from design checkers.
• Assist the Project Manager with documentation, correspondence and attend project meetings.
• Conduct site inspections as required and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered Civil Engineer with a relevant licensure.
• Minimum 4 years of experience designing multi‑level residential, commercial or institutional projects.
• Proven experience with reinforced and post‑tensioned concrete as well as structural steelwork.
• Familiarity with Australian Standards is a plus.

Required skills

• Design software: RAPT, RAM Concept, Microstran, ETABS.
• Proficiency in CAD drawing preparation and review.
• Strong command of Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication.
