Data Entry Specialist – Pharmacy

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Data Entry Specialist to support pharmacy operations. In this position you will ensure that prescription orders, patient information, and medication details are entered accurately and promptly into our pharmacy management system.

Key responsibilities

• Enter prescription orders, refills, medication changes, and patient data into the pharmacy system.
• Review incoming prescriptions for completeness, clarity, and accuracy.
• Process orders from e‑prescriptions, faxes, eMAR systems, facility portals, and other approved sources.
• Update patient profiles with demographics, allergies, insurance, and prescriber information.
• Identify incomplete or conflicting information and coordinate with pharmacists for clarification.
• Prioritize urgent medication requests and maintain accurate documentation.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and pharmacy confidentiality standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree.
• Strong typing accuracy and speed.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret prescription orders and medication directions.
• Basic knowledge of pharmacy terminology, dosage forms, and sig codes.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
• HIPAA certification (preferred).

Required skills

• Proficiency with basic computer applications.
• Experience with eMAR systems such as QuickMAR, PointClickCare, or MatrixCare.
• Handling of electronic prescriptions and faxed medication orders.
• Typing speed and accuracy.
