Data Centre Touch Support

About the role

We are looking for a Data Centre Touch Support professional to manage rack setup, structured cabling, and data sanitisation activities across our facilities. The role involves hands‑on work with fiber, copper, and storage media to ensure secure and reliable operations.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and level racks, install power strips and perform switch racking.
• Install, maintain and terminate structured cabling systems, including fiber optic and copper.
• Extend customer circuits such as POTS, T1, T3, Ethernet and fiber.
• Operate proprietary data sanitisation software to wipe and destroy storage devices.
• Maintain accurate records of all media sanitised, destroyed or moved.
• Coordinate secure intra‑campus and inter‑campus transport of storage media.
• Monitor and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems.
• Perform physical inspection of fiber distribution frames, lit gear and electrical distribution within racks.
• Measure and record light readings on active fiber circuits and trace fiber/copper connections.
• Identify and reconcile discrepancies between inventory systems and physical configurations.
• Sync with global teams, meet SLAs for data eradication and support data‑centre projects.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the eradication room and workspaces.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in high‑density data‑centre or carrier‑neutral colocation environments.
• At least 4 years of technical support experience with inventory management.
• IT certifications such as A+ or Network+ preferred.
• Ability to work 8‑10 hours per day on‑site, including standing, bending and reaching.
• Active driver’s licence and passport (or ability to obtain within 6 weeks).
