Clinical Informatics Consultant – Pharmacist

About the role

Optum is seeking a Clinical Informatics Consultant Pharmacist to develop and maintain evidence‑based clinical content for Change Healthcare products. The role bridges clinical expertise with technology to improve health outcomes and support internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and update clinical content using evidence‑based medicine and literature synthesis.
• Incorporate feedback from external peer reviewers and clients to ensure accuracy and usability.
• Perform quality assurance of clinical content and maintain comprehensive documentation.
• Serve as a clinical resource for internal and external customers.
• Collaborate with product development, product management, product owners, and business systems analysts.
• Participate in project planning, task monitoring, and ensure on‑time delivery of clinical development projects.
• Engage in field research that contributes to product advancement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; licensed physician with board certification in internal medicine or a recognized subspecialty.
• 5+ years of hands‑on clinical experience in independent practice or inpatient settings.
• Demonstrated direct patient‑care experience beyond formal training.
• Broad clinical exposure across acute, critical, ambulatory, and pediatric care settings.

Required skills

• Evidence‑based medicine (EBM) methodology.
• Medical coding systems knowledge (ICD, CPT).
• Proficiency with standard business software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong written communication for clinical documentation.
• Project management experience.
