Civil Designer – OpenRoads

About the role

Jacobs is seeking a Civil Designer specialized in OpenRoads to create geometric designs for roads, highways and other civil infrastructure. The role involves developing detailed 3D road models, ensuring compliance with standards and supporting the engineering team throughout project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Produce geometric designs for roads, highways and civil projects, adhering to company standards and quality expectations.
• Develop full 3D road design models and federated BIM models using OpenRoads, and troubleshoot design issues.
• Review design outputs from road designers and ensure consistent application of OpenRoads and design standards.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on major and medium‑scale projects, providing design options and technical input.
• Participate in team, project and client meetings, delivering technical support as required.
• Assist the sales team with tenders and proposals by defining scope, deliverables and effort estimates for Roads & Highways opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related drafting technology diploma.
• Strong geometric design experience with proven proficiency in OpenRoads.
• Detail‑oriented with the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
