Chief Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Chief Accountant to lead the accounting function of Makati Shangri‑La, a deluxe hotel in Manila’s financial district. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with local tax regulations, and provides strategic support to hotel operations.

Key responsibilities

• Organise, coordinate and supervise the hotel’s accounting operations, implementing internal controls.
• Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met.
• Process daily, weekly and monthly transactions across all workflows.
• Verify that documentation and approvals meet minimum standards and route non‑compliant transactions for resolution.
• Collaborate with other departments, providing guidance and leadership to accounting staff.
• Continuously learn and adapt to new processes within the accounting function.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting; CPA qualification preferred.
• 2‑3 years of experience handling full sets of accounts, preferably in hospitality.
• Strong attention to detail and high integrity.
• Fluent written and spoken English; local language proficiency is a plus.
• Self‑starter, customer‑oriented and committed to professional values.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Hands‑on experience with BIR reporting, including VAT, EWT and corporate taxation.
• Ability to manage full sets of accounts.
