Business Unit Controller

About the role

The Business Unit Controller will oversee the financial and control functions of the company, supporting the overall growth strategy, managing risks, and ensuring compliance with corporate policies and government regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in developing, consolidating, reporting and implementing the annual plan and budget, providing financial advice and feasibility assessments.
• Gather, process and present financial information, compare actual performance against standards, and recommend corrective actions.
• Implement corporate policies, ensure compliance with GAAP and government regulations, and protect company assets.
• Manage cash, investments and banking relationships, optimise returns and mitigate currency risks.
• Monitor the general ledger for accuracy and coordinate with other system modules.
• Conduct operational audits, test compliance, and review systems to maintain effective business controls.
• Identify process improvements to streamline workflow and reduce bottlenecks.
• Select, train, motivate and evaluate staff to achieve unit objectives.
• Support the Finance Director with additional functions required by Stores and HOO departments.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, preferably a Certified Public Accountant.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable recommendations.
• Proven track record of delivering results under tight deadlines.
• Good judgment, decision‑making abilities and command of technology and finance issues.
