Backup Waterguard

About the role

The Backup Waterguard supports the operation and maintenance of hydro‑electric facilities, ensuring continuous water supply to the conveyance line and penstock intakes. Working on‑site at Sal‑angan, you will collaborate with the Operations and Maintenance team, the Resource Supervisor, and the NOCC to keep dam structures, intakes, desander basins and related civil works in optimal condition.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain uninterrupted water flow by operating and servicing hydro facilities, civil structures, and conveyance lines.
• Keep intakes free of silt and obstructions; perform regular weir declogging.
• Monitor water levels and adjust operations to maximize utilization in line with Water Resource Management standards.
• Troubleshoot minor system issues, conduct inspections, and report abnormalities to supervisors.

Required profile

• Highly observant and detail‑oriented, capable of accurate streamflow and gauging during high‑flow periods.
• Proactive in troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Strict adherence to safety procedures and environmental protection protocols.
• Strong collaborative and communication skills for coordination with plant operators, maintenance staff and the NOCC.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hydro facilities, civil structures and water‑diversion systems.
• Knowledge of Water Resource Management standards.
• System troubleshooting and basic Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Streamflow gauging and weir declogging techniques.
