Backend Software Engineer - Finance Super App

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to help build the core systems behind BJAK's finance super app. You will work on reliable APIs, workflows and financial product infrastructure that serve millions of users across multiple markets.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services, APIs and workflows for insurance, payments, wallet, savings, investing, travel and other financial services.
• Create robust systems for user accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, notifications and operational processes.
• Collaborate with product and mobile teams to deliver customer‑facing journeys quickly.
• Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, data providers and other partners.
• Improve system reliability, observability, security and performance.
• Build auditable, regulated‑ready solutions for financial products.

Required profile

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design and production debugging.
• Experience building scalable services and integrating third‑party systems.
• Good understanding of security, reliability, data quality and operational edge cases.
• Ability to balance speed, quality and risk.
• Comfortable working with product, mobile, operations and business teams.
• FinTech, payments, insurance, lending or banking experience is a strong advantage.
