Azure API Management Developer

About the role

C9 is looking for an Azure API Management (APIM) Developer to design, develop, configure and maintain secure, scalable API solutions. The role is remote-first, aligned to Australian business hours (AEST), and is a fixed-term engagement aimed at strengthening C9's internal delivery capability. Occasional client projects may be involved, and after the initial term there may be casual or project-based work.

Key responsibilities

• Design, configure, publish and maintain APIs using Azure API Management.
• Develop and manage APIM policies for authentication, authorization, transformation, routing, throttling, caching and error handling.
• Secure API access with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, API keys, certificates and Azure security services.
• Configure API products, subscriptions, revisions, versions and named values.
• Integrate APIs with backend services, Azure services, applications and third-party systems.
• Monitor API performance, availability, errors and usage, and troubleshoot issues.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments using Azure DevOps.
• Maintain API specifications, documentation, configuration standards and deployment procedures.
• Collaborate with developers, architects and product managers, and identify improvements to performance, security and maintainability.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure API Management.
• Experience integrating APIs with Azure services, backend applications and third-party systems, and supporting APIs in production.
• Agile/Scrum delivery experience and familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps, Jira (or equivalent).
• Ability to work remotely with distributed teams and explain technical decisions clearly.
• Must be permanently based in the Philippines and available during Australian business hours.

Required skills

• Azure API Management, RESTful APIs and API authentication and security.
• OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, API keys and certificates.
• Bonus: Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, Terraform or Bicep, Azure Monitor and Application Insights, microservices.
