Australian Tax Accountant – Remote (Work from Home)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Australian Tax Accountant to join our fully remote team. You will be responsible for preparing Australian tax returns, handling year‑end accounting processes, and delivering accurate financial statements for small‑business clients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare year‑end work papers and adjusting journal entries.
• Prepare financial statements for small‑business clients.
• Complete Australian tax returns for companies, trusts, and Self‑Managed Super Funds (SMSFs).
• Review client accounting records and make necessary adjustments in Xero.
• Extract reports and analyse financial data using advanced Excel.
• Manage assigned jobs independently while ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
• Collaborate directly with the Principal Accountant for review and coaching.

Required profile

• Previous experience preparing Australian tax returns.
• Strong understanding of Australian year‑end accounting processes.
• Advanced proficiency in Xero.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
• Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines.
