AU Tax Accountant (Fully Remote)

About the role

A fully remote AU Tax Accountant position, advertised through Remote People, works within a high-performing finance team. You will reconcile and prepare financial statements and tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts and companies. The role suits candidates with at least three years of experience in an Australian tax firm, having worked on businesses with a turnover of AU$3-50m.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate proactively with managers on the priority and progress of assigned jobs
• Own tasks and follow checklists and procedures to meet quality standards
• Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS)
• Reconcile and complete tax returns for individuals, trusts, companies and partnerships
• Communicate with clients to request information or clarification, managing expectations on timelines
• Extract data, adjust ledger files and prepare tax working papers

Required profile

• At least 3 years of professional accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or equivalent experience
• Enrolled in, or looking to enrol in, CA or CPAM
• Experience preparing BAS and completing Australian tax returns for individuals, trusts, companies and partnerships
• Ability to complete a tax reconciliation workpaper, asset depreciation schedules, franking accounts, Division 7A loan reconciliations and GST reconciliation
• Ability to calculate capital gains on property and listed shares, and to handle employee leave, income tax, superannuation and FBT provisions
