Assistant Professor – Machine Learning & Misinformation

About the role

The School of Information at the University of Arizona is hiring multiple tenure‑track Assistant Professors to advance research and teaching in machine learning, natural language processing, and computational social science, with a focus on misinformation in social media and networks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead an independent research agenda in the specified domains.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, both online and face‑to‑face.
• Supervise student projects and provide academic advising.
• Participate in interdisciplinary grant teams and contribute to program development.

Required profile

• Demonstrated record of research in machine learning, NLP, or computational social science related to misinformation.
• Experience with big‑data computational methodologies.
• Interest in academic leadership, such as program supervision or student advising.
• Evidence of effective teaching and academic citizenship.
