About the role

ACCEL Schools is seeking a passionate 5-8th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher for Capital City Sports Academy in Columbus, Ohio. The teacher will bring the curriculum to life, fostering both academic achievement and social‑emotional growth in a vibrant charter‑school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, deliver, and adapt lesson plans throughout the school year.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and development.
• Apply research‑based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
• Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment.
• Utilize school‑approved curricula that reflect cultural and linguistic diversity.
• Implement school‑wide culture expectations and norms.
• Communicate regularly with families about academic and social‑emotional growth.
• Integrate technology tools to support instruction.
• Participate in non‑instructional activities and collaborate with colleagues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Active Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
• Comfort with a growth‑focused coaching environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
• Experience supervising students in various school settings.
• Clear federal and state background check.
• Prior experience working in an urban school environment.
