Trackwork Technician

About the role

The Trackwork Technician will support the Operations & Maintenance of the MRT7 rail project, performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on both mainline and depot tracks. The position requires working on a rotating day‑and‑night schedule, patrolling the network and responding quickly to any track‑related failures.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine inspections and lubrication of rails, turnouts, plinth tracks and ballasted tracks.
• Perform visual vehicle inspections, manual greasing of switch rails and lubrication of check‑rails and guard‑rails.
• Conduct on‑foot inspections of mainline and depot tracks to detect wear, hazards or damage.
• Execute advanced technical assessments such as Track Geometry measurements and Ultrasonic Rail‑Defect Detection.
• Repair or replace loose or broken components, correct horizontal and vertical alignment, and grind rail corrugations.
• Log all maintenance actions in the Maintenance Management System (MMS).
• Participate in the Quick Response Team to minimise operational downtime and meet defined response times.
• Collaborate with the Fault Controller to produce incident reports, root‑cause analysis and repair recommendations.
• Support supply‑chain activities by verifying tool and material quality, supervising third‑party contractors and coordinating with Engineering/Planning on scope and costs.
• Identify and document assets that are Beyond Economic Repair for disposal via MMS.

Required profile

• Willingness to work rotating day and night shifts.
• Ability to respond promptly to track failures and work under time‑critical conditions.
• Strong teamwork orientation, collaborating with the Trackworks Lead, Fault Controller and other stakeholders.
• Attention to detail for accurate inspection, reporting and documentation.
