Theater and Events Officer

About the role

The Theater and Events Officer supports the Artistic Director and Executive Director in delivering high‑quality theatrical productions and events across Areté’s venues. The role combines frontline client service, program coordination, administrative support, and public‑relations activities to ensure smooth operations and audience satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for theater partners, sponsors, press, and internal staff, especially in the Artistic Director’s absence.
• Assist in coordinating productions, preparing talent and supplier contracts, and scheduling performances for multiple venues.
• Arrange venue logistics, hospitality, and ensure theater spaces are ready before and during events.
• Manage ushers, brief them on procedures, and oversee audience services such as ticket collection and program distribution.
• Draft terms of use, memoranda of agreement, budgets, and other administrative documents.
• Support the Artistic Director in season planning, performance scheduling, and documentation archiving.
• Contribute to publicity, sales, and marketing efforts, including preparing press kits and promotional souvenirs.
• Recruit, train, and supervise theater personnel, including ushers and technical staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience in cultural organizations, theater production, and publicity/marketing.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse personalities.
• Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Capacity to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Discretion in managing confidential information.
