Site Reliability Engineer (Journey SRE)

About the role

The Journey Site Reliability Engineer is part of Union Bank's Journey SRE team, reporting to the Journey SRE Head/Lead. The role works closely with product, engineering, DevOps and business stakeholders to ensure the reliability, observability and performance of critical banking and payment journeys.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in defining and tracking Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for core banking and payment services, focusing on availability, throughput and latency.
• Support chaos engineering experiments, fault‑injection testing and incident response to reduce mean time to detection (MTTD) and mean time to recovery (MTTR).
• Help the observability team configure Dynatrace, maintain dashboards, alerts and distributed tracing to proactively identify issues.
• Participate in load‑testing and performance‑tuning activities, escalating bottlenecks to senior engineers.
• Document root‑cause analyses, contribute to knowledge‑base articles and develop playbooks for common incidents.
• Collaborate with development teams to embed reliability practices into CI/CD pipelines and promote a culture of proactive risk management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1‑5 years of experience in software engineering, DevOps or SRE roles.
• Familiarity with monitoring, incident management and reliability engineering concepts.

Required skills

• Dynatrace for observability and monitoring.
• CI/CD pipeline concepts and tooling.
• Load testing and performance tuning techniques.
