Senior Quantity Surveyor (M&E)

About the role

SMEC is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a focus on Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) works. You will support cost estimation, contract administration and project cost monitoring across a range of infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse project drawings, specifications and tender documents to produce accurate quantity take‑offs and Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
• Assist in preparing cost estimates, budget summaries and tender submissions, and maintain cost databases and unit rates.
• Support the preparation and issuance of tender documents, evaluate contractor quotations and help draft contracts, purchase orders and work packages.
• Track project expenditures against approved budgets, prepare progress claims, payment certificates and subcontractor valuations.
• Monitor material usage, site progress and cost performance, reporting variances and escalating potential overruns.
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, procurement and site teams on cost‑related matters and record commercial action items from project meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 5‑10 years of experience in quantity surveying, cost estimation or construction cost control.
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and organisational skills with attention to detail.
