Senior Project Manager (Implementation)

About the role

The Senior Project Manager (Implementation) leads UNOPS projects from initiation through closure, ensuring delivery within agreed tolerances for time, cost, scope, quality, risk and benefits. The role serves as the main liaison with donors, partners and beneficiaries, aligning project outputs with contractual commitments and UNOPS performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and execute the project implementation plan, establishing milestones and monitoring progress.
• Embed sustainability dimensions—including social, gender, environmental and economic considerations—throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee production of outputs, manage resources, and initiate corrective actions when needed.
• Ensure deliverables meet quality requirements and manage acceptance of work packages.
• Liaise with external suppliers and account managers to guarantee timely, high‑quality delivery.
• Monitor project variances, control changes, and report risks and mitigation measures to senior management and the Project Board.
• Promote UNOPS services and identify potential growth opportunities.
• Comply with UNOPS policies, keep project information up‑to‑date in management systems, and adhere to legal agreements.

Required profile

• Proven experience planning, implementing, monitoring and controlling complex projects.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, especially with donors, partners and beneficiaries.
• Ability to deliver results within defined tolerances for time, cost, scope, quality and risk.
• Understanding of UNOPS performance standards and sustainable development objectives.
