Senior Lead – Control Testing

About the role

As a Senior Lead in Control Testing at ANZ, you will strengthen first‑line control testing and quality assurance across Corporate Enablement functions. You will lead delivery at scale, ensuring testing is risk‑based, methodologically sound and provides clear insight into control effectiveness. You will partner closely with peers, stakeholders and risk specialists to influence how risks and controls are understood and managed, while benefiting from a dynamic banking environment that encourages learning and growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead continuous improvement of control testing methodologies, standards, templates and quality practices.
• Ensure consistent application of approved testing methodologies and tools across teams and portfolios.
• Define and maintain testing quality benchmarks, documentation requirements and review practices.
• Drive enhancements to testing approaches, including data‑driven techniques and automation, ensuring scalable and governed implementation.
• Oversee analysis and reporting of testing outcomes, delivering clear insights on risk exposure, control effectiveness and emerging themes.
• Identify, escalate and report material control weaknesses, systemic issues and compliance risks through appropriate governance channels.
• Support governance reporting, assurance forums and stakeholder engagement with high‑quality insights and constructive challenge.
• Oversee remediation monitoring, challenge insufficient evidence and ensure sustainable issue resolution.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in control testing, risk assurance or related audit functions within the banking or financial services sector.
• Proven ability to lead large‑scale testing programmes and drive continuous improvement.
• Strong analytical mindset with the capability to translate testing results into actionable insights.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to influence risk and control understanding.
• Experience in governance reporting and assurance activities.
