Senior Electrical Designer - Remote

About the role

Fyfe's Power & Electrification Division is hiring a Senior Electrical Designer based in the Philippines to work permanently from home, supporting major Australian energy projects. The role covers wind, solar, BESS, transmission and HV substation projects, working remotely with an international team of engineers and designers across Australia and the Philippines.

Candidates must reside in the Philippines and will be employed locally through a third-party employment agency, working exclusively with Fyfe's Power & Electrification Division.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality electrical design documentation for HV substations, utility infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
• Develop primary design deliverables such as equipment layouts, cable routing, earthing systems, conduit layouts and detailed construction drawings.
• Support the coordination and delivery of multidisciplinary design packages.
• Contribute to HV and LV power system designs, equipment selection and technical solutions.
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to improve design quality and project delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in a design consultancy environment.
• Experience in HV substation design and detailed design delivery using MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Experience in electrical engineering design across renewable energy, transmission, substations, power generation, hydrogen, oil & gas or related sectors.
• Proven capability in LV and HV power generation and distribution design, including equipment selection such as transformers and circuit breakers.
• Experience with HV and LV power system studies (load flow, short circuit, cable sizing, arc flash, discrimination, protection, earthing, harmonics).
• Strong written and verbal English, organisation and problem-solving skills, able to work in a remote, cross-border team.
• Previous experience with Australian projects or Australian Standards is highly regarded.

Required skills

• MicroStation and AutoCAD for detailed design.
• Electrical modelling software such as ETAP, EMTP or PSCAD.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards including AS 2067, IEEE 80, AS/NZS 1768, AS 3000, AS 3008, IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70.
• Nice to have: High Voltage and Low Voltage switchboard design per AS 61439 and exposure to instrumentation and control systems.
