Senior Data QA Engineer

About the role

A full-time Senior Data QA Engineer position based in the Philippines, responsible for quality assurance and quality control across the enterprise data management and data development lifecycle. The role covers test design, execution, defect management and mentoring, within an Agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Engage from backlog refinement by reviewing requirements and technical specifications, defining acceptance criteria and designing tests before development starts.
• Define, prepare, execute and implement data validation, unit, integration, regression and source-to-target testing across SSIS, dbt, Fivetran, Python ingestion and Databricks pipelines.
• Own testing of complex or high-risk work items, including performance and security checks against quality gates.
• Support periodic quantitative and qualitative data audits on post-production datasets.
• Document defects in Azure DevOps with clear reproduction steps and evidence, and drive them to closure with developers.
• Contribute automated checks to the regression suite and help convert manual tests to automation.
• Mentor intermediate and junior engineers by reviewing their test designs, queries and defect reports.
• Work with business analysts, developers, data architects and Tableau developers to build comprehensive test plans.
• Leverage AI/LLM tools (e.g. Claude, Copilot) to speed up test case generation, synthetic data and query review, validating AI-assisted output before production use.
• Participate in daily scrums, testing, code reviews, build releases and other recurring meetings, and deputise for the Data QA Lead in ceremonies and release sign-offs when required.
