Senior Cost Accountant

About the role

The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold reporting. You will partner with logistics, sales operations, and European teams to provide cost‑focused solutions and support financial close processes.

Key responsibilities

• Review purchase orders, bills of materials, and production routing data to validate cost accuracy.
• Prepare and maintain monthly inventory reports, including roll‑forward, reconciliation, and scrap analysis.
• Execute detailed COGS analysis and fluctuation reporting during month‑end and quarter‑end closes.
• Collaborate with Logistics, Sales Operations, and European entities on product cost, inventory accuracy, and supply‑chain management.
• Work with IT to keep cost accounting systems (SAP S/4HANA) current and enable ad‑hoc analysis.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and audit requirements.
• Support annual physical inventory counts and cost roll‑forward functions.
• Perform ad‑hoc inventory valuation analyses as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent experience).
• CPA, CMA, or advanced degree is a plus.
• 5+ years of accounting/finance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing, supply‑chain, and operational flows.
• Detail‑oriented with a high regard for accuracy.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven setting.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA.
• Familiarity with Power BI or similar data‑visualization tools.
