Senior Civil Technician

About the role

WSP is looking for a Senior Civil Technician to lead the production of high‑quality engineering drawings for a variety of civil projects. You will work closely with engineers and project teams to translate design concepts into precise CAD deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare concise engineering drawings from sketches, calculations and specifications without assistance.
• Apply and enforce CAD standards and quality systems relevant to the project location and discipline.
• Review drawing sets to ensure compliance with standards and quality requirements.
• Mentor and train junior drafters, monitoring their work quality and promoting technical excellence.
• Manage drafting aspects of projects, including planning, resource allocation and communication with engineering staff.
• Support client satisfaction by assisting colleagues in delivering superior results.
• Evaluate staff performance according to HR procedures and comply with SHEQ obligations.
• Execute tasks assigned by senior technical leads and managers as appropriate to experience and qualifications.

Required profile

• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Engineering (or equivalent CADD qualification).
• Minimum eight (8) years of civil drafting experience.
• Strong drafting and detailing capabilities.
• Extensive knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation and ProjectWise.
• Experience preparing engineering drawing deliverables from sketches and calculations.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D is an advantage.
• Exposure to various business models and industry best practices, preferably on Australian projects.
