Senior Bookkeeper – 100% Remote, Independent Contractor

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Senior Bookkeeper to support a modern Australian accounting practice. This full‑time independent contractor role is 100% remote, allowing you to work from home while serving a diverse portfolio of small‑business clients.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day‑to‑day bookkeeping for multiple clients, including bank and credit‑card reconciliations.
• Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general journal entries.
• Manage payroll and superannuation compliance for Australian clients.
• Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).
• Support month‑end close processes and ensure timely delivery of financial reports.
• Handle receipt processing, documentation, and early issue identification with suggested resolutions.
• Assist with onboarding new clients and contribute to improving SOPs and workflows.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 3–5 years of Australian bookkeeping experience in a firm handling multiple clients.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and maintain high standards of accuracy.
