Senior Accounting Compliance Associate

About the role

The Senior Accounting Compliance Associate supports the review and analysis of financial data for the Department of Financial and Administrative Management. The role assists Country Offices and the Global Shared Services Centre in resolving accounting issues and monitors transactions processed through WAVE systems to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with IPSAS and Financial Management Rules and Procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyse financial data under the guidance of senior finance leaders.
• Assist Country Offices and the Global Shared Services Centre in resolving accounting issues.
• Monitor transactions processed through WAVE systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Ensure financial reporting aligns with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and Financial Management Rules and Procedures.
• Provide routine financial monitoring and support to the Finance and Accounting Division.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field with at least four years of relevant experience, or high school diploma with six years of experience.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent is an advantage.
• Experience in accounting, financial monitoring, or administrative finance support.
• Experience with financial or ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) and working in international organizations or UN agencies is a plus.
• Demonstrated adherence to IOM values and competency framework.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with ERP financial systems such as Oracle.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial data tracking.
• Attention to detail when reviewing financial records and transactions.
• Effective communication with internal stakeholders on accounting matters.
