Restaurant Cook

About the role

The Restaurant Cook works under the guidance of the Restaurant Manager to prepare and present meals for guests at Cafe Central. This full‑time, onsite position involves food preparation, service, and maintaining a clean kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to recipes and quality standards.
• Serve customers directly and operate the cash register when needed.
• Clean and organize preparation and service areas before, during, and after shifts.
• Assist with set‑up and service for parties, special events, and catering orders.
• Maintain inventory of ingredients and report shortages to the manager.

Required profile

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations (percentages and fractions).
• Strong interpersonal skills for customer interaction.
• County Food Handler's Permit or equivalent certification.

Required skills

• Knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and presentation.
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.

What we offer

• Hourly wage of $19.02 (2026‑2027 salary table).
• Regular schedule: 7 am – 11 am, 4 hours per day, 225 days per year.
• Opportunities for promotion with a minimum 5% salary increase.
