PV Design Engineer – Commercial & Utility Solar

About the role

Helios is looking for a PV Design Engineer to lead the engineering of commercial, industrial and small‑scale utility solar projects across the Philippines. You will translate client requirements into detailed, build‑ready designs for rooftop and ground‑mounted systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design rooftop (100 kW–5 MW) and ground‑mounted PV systems that meet local typhoon, humidity and loading conditions.
• Create single‑line diagrams, layout plans, electrical schematics and complete bills of materials.
• Size inverters, cables, transformers and protection devices; perform voltage‑drop and ampacity calculations.
• Model, simulate and validate designs using PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD and SketchUp.
• Prepare feasibility studies, ROI analyses and client‑facing proposals.
• Ensure compliance with PEC 2017, DOE and ERC regulations and compile interconnection packages (DOE SEOC, ERC COC, net‑metering, GEA, GEOP).
• Coordinate with distribution utilities, review contractor submittals, support commissioning and produce O&M documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with a valid REE license.
• 3–5 years of hands‑on solar PV design experience (C&I or utility preferred).
• Proficiency in PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD and/or SketchUp.
• Strong knowledge of PEC 2017, DOE and ERC regulations, net‑metering and utility interconnection in the Philippines.
• Excellent communication skills; fluent in Filipino and English.
• Willingness to travel across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
