Project Execution Superintendent

About the role

Vale Base Metals is seeking a Project Execution Superintendent to lead capital and operating‑expense projects at the Voisey’s Bay mine in Labrador. This permanent, rotation‑based position combines on‑site field work with office coordination from St. John’s, supporting the delivery of safe, on‑time, and on‑budget projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage capital and OPEX projects from business case through commissioning and close‑out.
• Oversee engineering development, including underground infrastructure, FEL studies, reliability assessments, and quality planning.
• Define and control project scope, schedule, cost, forecasting, contracts, and stakeholder communications.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, addressing schedule or budget variances and resolving on‑site conflicts.
• Supervise safe field execution, ensuring project‑specific safety plans, SHE reviews, hazard assessments, and incident investigations are completed.
• Control project finances, including budgeting, purchase orders, change orders, accruals, and contract management.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating Vale and contractor resources.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering large‑scale mining or industrial projects.
• Strong understanding of project governance, quality standards, and safety regulations.
• Ability to work in a fly‑in‑fly‑out environment and manage remote teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
