Production Manager

About the role

The Production Manager leads daily food manufacturing operations, ensuring that production targets are met safely, efficiently, and in line with food safety and quality standards. This role oversees teams, optimises processes, and drives continuous improvement to maximise productivity while minimising waste and downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day production to meet schedules, output, quality and cost goals.
• Develop and implement production plans based on demand and inventory.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, sanitation and company quality standards.
• Lead, coach and develop production supervisors and staff.
• Monitor performance using KPIs such as productivity, yield, downtime, waste and labor efficiency.
• Coordinate with QA, Warehouse, Maintenance, Procurement, Engineering and Supply Chain.
• Work with Maintenance to keep equipment reliable and minimise downtime.
• Investigate issues, identify root causes and apply corrective actions.
• Plan labour, schedule shifts, manage overtime and optimise manpower utilisation.
• Track production costs and launch efficiency initiatives.
• Promote occupational health and safety and maintain a safe work environment.
• Prepare production reports for senior management.
• Lead Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous‑improvement projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Industrial/Mechanical/Chemical/Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years of food manufacturing experience, including at least 3 years in a production‑management or supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of food manufacturing processes and production planning.
• Deep understanding of GMP, HACCP, Food Safety Management Systems and quality standards.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement or Six Sigma is a plus.
