Principal Software Engineer, Back End (AI-powered Data Querying)

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to lead the development of AI‑powered data querying solutions within Agoda’s Back End Engineering team. Based in Bangkok with relocation support, you will shape our data platform, ensuring high‑quality, reliable data for business insights.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of AI‑driven natural‑language data query engines that turn business questions into actionable insights.
• Architect and build scalable data quality frameworks to guarantee trustworthy data across the platform.
• Develop and evolve analytical engines such as StarRocks, ensuring performance and reliability.
• Act as a hands‑on technical leader, solving complex challenges across AI query, data quality, and analytics domains.
• Collaborate with Technical Program Managers and cross‑functional stakeholders to define requirements and deliver high‑impact initiatives.
• Provide technical authority and mentorship across the organization for AI and data infrastructure projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior technical leader or principal engineer in backend systems.
• Strong background in AI‑enabled data platforms and large‑scale data processing.
• Demonstrated ability to design fault‑tolerant, high‑throughput services.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work across multiple domains.
