Power BI Data Lead (Remote)

About the role

The Power BI Data Lead will drive the design, development and continuous improvement of Power BI reporting and data solutions for an international organisation operating in the mining and construction sector. Working remotely, you will partner closely with Australian‑based stakeholders to translate business priorities into scalable, reliable BI solutions that support operational and management decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, maintenance and enhancement of Power BI dashboards, reports and data solutions.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to capture requirements and deliver practical, scalable BI implementations.
• Establish and enforce consistent standards for Power BI development, data modelling, reporting definitions, dashboard design and documentation.
• Design robust data models, relationships, calculations and measures to ensure accurate reporting.
• Develop and optimise complex DAX measures, Power Query transformations and SQL queries.
• Monitor report performance, scheduled data refreshes and data dependencies to maintain reliable outputs.
• Investigate and resolve complex data and reporting issues, identifying practical solutions.
• Promote data quality and reporting governance practices across the organisation.
• Provide technical guidance and conduct quality reviews for reporting and data‑related activities.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in Power BI development, business intelligence, data analytics or a similar data‑focused role.
• Proven ability to design and maintain scalable data models and structured reporting solutions.
• Experience leading or providing technical direction on BI, reporting or data projects.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on data quality and governance.
