O&M Engineer – Metro Rail Projects

About the role

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Engineer for its Manila office. The role covers a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic, supporting the handover of metro rail projects from the design and build teams to the operator, and covering the warranty period. The position is full-time and based in Manila.

Key responsibilities

• Propose O&M engineering activities and operating costs, apportion project requirements and ensure on-time delivery within schedule and budget.
• Prepare and issue guidelines for O&M manuals, training, spare parts, special tools and pricing documents.
• Deliver operational analysis, operation and maintenance plans, manuals, procedures, mobilization and obsolescence management plans, and configuration management plans.
• Review design change requests, take part in design reviews, and support the handover of requirements and design reviews from the design and build team to the operator.
• Prepare technical specifications for spare parts and service contracts, and review manuals delivered by subcontractors.
• Analyse performance data, run failure report analysis and identify corrective actions.
• Take part in project bidding and delivery phases, support final handover, and support maintenance activities and the warranty period from a technical perspective.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of railway system engineering experience, including metro systems, signalling, power supply, rolling stock, MEPS, telecoms, civil works and platform screen doors.
• Knowledge of railway traffic management, train driving, track access and work on high, medium and low voltage equipment, and of common railway safety management systems.
• International experience managing international projects and willingness to cover a global role.
• Experience commissioning railway systems and commissioning of railway systems.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

• Maintainability design and implementation, and review of maintenance documentation from sub-suppliers.
• Understanding of maintenance tasks' economic impact on total cost of ownership.
• Supplier relationship management in an integrated supply chain approach.
• Lean and Agile organization experience.
• Negotiation, leadership and excellent communication skills.
