Medical Billing Specialist - Collections

About the role

The client seeks a tenacious, detail‑oriented Medical Billing Specialist focused on collections. The position supports mental health and substance‑abuse treatment billing, ensuring accurate revenue‑cycle management and financial health of the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Contact carriers to verify payment status on claims per in‑network contracts.
• Audit billing discrepancies, payment delays, and denials.
• Validate insurance payment accuracy and compliance with contracts.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, submit appeals, and provide required medical records.
• Interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and manage appeal timelines.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

Required profile

• Experience with CollaborateMD billing software (preferred, not required).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with providers, insurers, and patients.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
