Manufacturing Engineering Early Career Engineer (24‑month program)

About the role

Western Digital’s Early Career Talent (ECT) program offers a 24‑month structured development journey for recent engineering graduates. The role supports slider processing and Head Gimbal Assembly (HGA) manufacturing operations in the Philippines, working alongside senior engineers on process improvement, quality assurance, and yield analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in structured technical training covering WD manufacturing systems, safety, quality standards, and engineering fundamentals.
• Support small‑scope improvement projects during Phase 2 under mentor guidance.
• Document observations, create standard work instructions, and contribute to yield and efficiency data collection.
• Engage in regular check‑ins, milestone assessments, and Individual Development Plan (IDP) reviews.
• Demonstrate continuous learning and commitment throughout the 24‑month program.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
• Fresh graduate or maximum of one year of work experience.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes or engineering principles.
• Willingness to commit to the full 24‑month BEST Program.
• Preferred: academic exposure to data analysis, statistics, or process engineering; internship or project experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment; familiarity with quality tools (SPC, FMEA, 8D) or Lean/Six Sigma concepts; exposure to HDD, semiconductor, or precision manufacturing.
