Manufacturing Engineer – Early Career Program

About the role

Western Digital is seeking a recent graduate to join its Early Career Talent (ECT) Engineering program within the Head Backend Business Unit. Over a 24‑month structured journey, you will receive foundational training and work on real‑world manufacturing projects supporting slider processing and Head Gimbal Assembly (HGA) operations.

Key responsibilities

• Complete technical training modules covering WD manufacturing systems, safety, quality standards and engineering fundamentals.
• Support small‑scope improvement projects in the second phase of the program under the guidance of a senior engineer mentor.
• Document observations, create standard work instructions and collect yield and efficiency data.
• Participate in regular check‑ins, milestone assessments and Individual Development Plan (IDP) reviews.
• Demonstrate continuous learning and commitment throughout the 24‑month program leading to permanent placement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or a related field.
• Fresh graduate or maximum of one year of work experience.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes or engineering principles.
• Willingness to commit to the full 24‑month BEST program structure.
